NB-Uitgewers is diep besorg oor die verreikende gevolge wat die sensuurmaatreëls in die beoogde Wetsontwerp op die Beskerming van Inligting sal hê op spraakvryheid in Suid-Afrika. Onder spraakvryheid sluit ons in die vryheid wat elke skrywer het om hom of haar in boeke uit te druk, onbelemmer deur die oogmerke van die nuwe wetgewing - ‘n vryheid wat implisiet deur ons land se Grondwet verskans is. Ons wil ons ten sterkste teen die nuwe wetgewing uitspreek, en moedig skrywers wat by enige van ons drukname publiseer, aan om hul stem te laat hoor op die webwerf van LitNet deur te skryf aan media@litnet.co.za, asook deur die petisie te onderteken wat deur André P. Brink en Nadine Gordimer begin is. Om laasgenoemde te doen, kan ‘n e-pos gestuur word aan writers@mweb.co.za.

NB Publishers is very concerned about the far-reaching implications the censorship in the planned Protection of Information Act will have on freedom of speech in South Africa. To us freedom of speech includes the freedom every author has to express him or herself in books unfettered by the aims of the proposed new legislation - a freedom implicitly enshrined in our Constitution. We wish to express our strongest opposition to the proposed new legislation and encourage authors that publish under any of our imprints to voice their protest on the LitNet website by writing to media@litnet.co.za, as well as signing the petition that was initiated by André P.
